About Dystonia-Support4u

- Because the people afflicted with this disorder need better therapies to treat the condition and aren't likely to get them without your assistance.
- Because there has been significant progress in understanding the mechanisms of this disorder, and there is great excitement about the promise of future developments.
- Because the Foundation has a sound plan that will ensure the careful use of Campaign contributions in the aggressive pursuit of cures.
- Because Dystonia affects ten times the number of people afflicted with ALS or cystic fibrosis.
- Because Dystonia can be difficult to diagnose, and is poorly understood within some areas of the medical community.
- Because the effects of Dystonia are life-altering and may be devastating.
- Because some sufferers continue to live productive lives, but the severity of symptoms for others may limit their ability to care for themselves or cause them to lose their careers entirely.
- Because until very recently, Dystonia did not receive much government funding for research or much attention from the pharmaceutical industry (we are working hard to change this!)
- Because a lack of widespread knowledge of the disorder has made it difficult to raise funds from the general public.
- Because eliminating this cause of suffering is surely a worthy goal - and we have a good chance of doing so in the not-too-distant future.
